"I AM THE PLUMBER" May 6, 2016

We had an extremely crazy day. Like REALLY CRAZY. We were still living with my parents at this point and Jade and Bailey were as well. The basement is still not fixed from the flood 5 years ago so we were all kinda crammed in there together. We were just waiting for the painters to finish so we could move in. Well during all of this the toilet in the back room stopped working. It was acting funny for a day and then everything started coming up. We kept mopping up and we would get it all cleaned up and then it would do it again. We had someone come and pump out the septic tank and he said that he didn't think that was the problem. Well it kept doing it and dad came home to check on things. Mom said, "Can we please just call the plumber". Dad angrily replied,
"I AM THE PLUMBER"!

Well, the "Plumber" thought it would be a good idea to pour every chemical he could find down the toilet. He was pretty sure of himself before doing it saying, "This will take care of it". We were cooking lunch in the kitchen when the room was all of the sudden filled with the strongest chemical smell I have ever smelled. Our lungs and eyes were burning. We all ran out of the house and when dad came out he was coughing so hard. He laid down on the cement in the driveway and coughed for about 45 minutes. We were all just staring at each other wondering what to do. They decided they better go back in and open all of the windows and turn some fans on. When Jade came back out he was doing the same thing as dad. The smell was in the entire house.
Sometime during all of this Brett came home and we tried to figure out what to do next. We went to the high school to borrow a very long snake, dug up the septic tank in the back yard, and Brett put his large plastic gloves on and went to work inside. Dad was coughing his lungs out trying to dig up the back yard. Mom and I were just trying to keep the kids out of the way. We took them over to our house for a bit but the painters were still working so we needed to stay out of their way too. Jade came over and showered and then laid down on the couch. He and Bailey decided they better go to Panguitch to the ER because his lungs were burning so bad. When they got to the waiting room he started throwing up and they admitted him right away. He was there for a few hours while they
x-rayed his lungs.
Meanwhile, back at home, the guys finally snaked out whatever was plugging the pipe and we were back in business. We put the lawn back together as good as we could and went inside to survey the damage. The chemicals had eaten the travertine tile in the bathroom and laundry room. All of the flooding in the upstairs had leaked into the downstairs and ruined the wall, ceiling, and the mattress. Very frustrating for my parents and we felt so bad. We were able to move in to our house in the following days so it freed up some space for them-and made it so that 6 less people were using their bathrooms!
