Visit from some Dalton's!

We were so lucky to have Scott, Krista, and Kylee come and stay the night with us last week. We have seen Scott a bit this past month because he was hauling loads into Lost Hills but they just changed his route so he won't be coming here anymore:(
We were excited when he called to see if they could stop by on their way to see Krista's family. It was our first time meeting Kylee and she is SO cute! She is such a happy baby. I could sit and watch her coo and smile all day long. Sydney was SO fascinated with 'the baby'. She still asks every day if she can hold Scotti's baby.

Thanks for coming guys! Hope you come again soon.

Independence Day

FIREWORKS!

Root Beer

Nothing makes me more homesick than the 4th of July. Not even Christmas. The thought of everyone sleeping out at grandmas on the 3rd, waking up to dynamite at dawn, hanging out at the parade, watching the program and playing games at the school, blowing up old tractors, watching the fireworks, and of course...grandmas homemade root beer makes me so sad that I cry every year I'm not there.
I have memories as a little girl of going down the street to help Grandma cap the root beer. My favorite root beer memory is when Grandma was gone one year and holly made it. Instead of putting in 1 tsp. of yeast, she put in 1 Tbsp. of yeast. The first bottle was opened on the kitchen and it went EVERYWHERE! The blinds, ceiling, everything. We opened all of the other bottles outside and had contests to see whose could shoot the furthest-like Roman candles!!
The first year we were in Bakersfield I went to a yard sale and they had a capper for $2.00. I was SO EXCITED. It has been unused in the garage ever since. I finally pulled it out this year and made a small batch.

I found the most awesome caps! Very patriotic.

The bad news is that it was terrible! We couldn't even drink it. Grandma makes hers 6 days in advance and I did the same. I think the elevation (6000 ft. vs. 404 ft.) must have something to do with it because ours were WAY over ready. Next year I will only do 3 or 4 day before. Actually, next year we will be drinking grandmas batch in Circleville. That's a promise!

Chick-fil-a

The girls had a sports camp during the last week of June and everyday that we would drop them off the babies would get SO sad. So one day I headed to chick-fil-a and told them that we were gong to go somewhere SO fun! Syd started crying and said,"no church. NO nursery!" Over and over again. They hate nursery and every Sunday is a fight. Whoever said that Sunday is a day of rest doesn't have 2 year old twins. And 8 year old twins for that matter!
Anyway, they played for about an hour and we had so much fun. Then it was time to leave and I was reminded very quickly why I never do things like this. Dalton ran off when he saw me trying to buckle syd (unsuccessfully) in the stroller. She was freaking out and he was trying to go into the men's restroom. I left her for a second to stop him from going in there and when I turned around she had run all the way up by the registers. I managed in the end to get one strapped in and then wrestled the other one all the way out to the car. Kicking and screaming. Lots of people were watching...no one was helping:) I was red-faced and sweating.
Next time we will bring daddy along for help and moral support!

Dalton pointing at the car. He is obsessed with any and all motorized vehicles.

"Happy Day 2"

The babies turned 2! I can't believe it, and yet I can. Some things have gone by fast, and some things have not but the fact remains that they are growing up!
Sydney said ALL day "HAPPY DAY 2"! It was so cute. She is obsessed with the number 2.
We took them out to dinner at Que Pasa and then to Cold Stone.

This little girl LOVED the salsa. And it was HOT! She just kept eating and eating it.

 We love dip!

 PRESENTS!

We had more fun than they did.

These cards came from my Grandma Dalton. She is always so good to remember everyone's birthdays and she has a lot of them to remember!

Girl trip!

In June I was able to go on a girls only trip with my Mom, Stef, and Bailey! We had SO much fun. The only bad thing was that Kenzie wasn't able to come with us. We hope she can come next time. We were so lazy and it was so much fun to spend time together.
We ate at Wilma's patio on balboa island and it was yummy!

There was a funny cow in the shop next door. I had to take a pic for Brett. I guess they paint it different for every season.
We had some very delicious chocolate bars called balboa bars. Wish I had one right now.
I got a much needed pedi for my ugly toes.
If you are thinking that our trip had a lot to do with food, it did! I was SO happy to not have to cook for a few days, especially after having so many visitors!
We Spent a little time at the beach but it was pretty cold.
We had yummy gelato in Costa Mesa while shopping. We told mom to take a pic looking sad that it was gone. She couldn't keep a straight face!
The Newport Temple-so beautiful!

We shopped, slept, ate, and played "ro sham bo" in the hot tub (inside joke). I was so sad when it was over but I was glad to see the kids again. I hope we can do it again SOON!
