Goodbye Bishop-June 23, 2016

In June we had a farewell dinner for Bishop (Jim Smith) at Butch's. It's going to be so weird without him around. He's been a part of our family for about as long as I remember. When Dad and Lon got their first truck he was driving for someone else and they offered him a job. He laughed them out of the room and told them he would never work there. 30ish years later here we are. He drove for them for a long time and then took over as dispatcher when Dad was made the Stake President.
We love him and he loves us-even though he says he doesn't. I will never forget when he was having heart problems and he called the house looking for Dad. I was the only one home and answered the phone. He was so scared and I told him that we love him and he is part of our family and we would do anything for him. He used to tease me when I was a teenager going to cube hay with my sony walkman. He reminds me about that all of the time-about how I was having attitude. He used to buy my kids Christmas presents and they love him very much.

We will miss him and wish him the best but there are so many things changing and it is time to move on.

The Dalton Gang-Dalton Brother's Trucking

I do have a funny story about Syd on this day. We were making him cards to give to him and I had bought a big bag of dumdum suckers because that is what he always give my kids when they go to the shop. Syd was asking what to write in her card and I said, "Just tell him good luck-love Sydney". She started fighting with me and said that she wasn't going to write that. I told her she could write whatever she wanted and then she just started to cry. "I'm not going to write Love Sydney because I DON'T LOVE HIM!"
I was laughing so hard. Dalton and Syd didn't know him like Madi and Saige did. But they sure ate alot of his suckers.
