Antimony cafe-January 28, 2017

Brett, Madi, and Saige, went skiing today so we decided that we would go try out the Antimony Cafe for lunch. Aunt Moana's grandson is the new owner so I thought it would be fun to invite Great Grandpa and Grandma to go with us. It's been so much fun to spend time with them. Anyway on the drive there Grandpa was telling me all about his memories from Antimony. His mom (Ella Rhee Savage) grew up there. He said that his grandpa was a county commissioner and he used to ride his horse from Antimony to Junction to the meetings. That is a LONG ride on a horse. They showed us the old dance hall up Kingston canyon that they used to go dancing at. He showed me where the old road used to be and told about all the trucks he remembered tipping over on it. One was a truckload of Kosher beef that was hanging from the top of the trailer. They had gone to help put it on another truck but had to wait for the Rabbi to come and bless it so it could still be kosher. We saw the spot where Lon tipped the diesel over a few years ago and were amazed that he was ok. He showed us where his family used to live, etc. It was really fun. I wish I could remember more of what he said.

When we got to the cafe/general store it was very busy and there was only one employee trying to keep up. He kept apologizing for being so slow. We sat at the bar and watched him cook and it was very entertaining. I was pleasantly surprised at how patient Dalton and Syd were waiting for their food because they were really hungry. We were laughing the whole time at all of the craziness around us. We were there a really long time. Syd was the last one to get her food and when it came she had to go to the bathroom. So I broke her chicken strip in half to help it cool and took her to the bathroom. While we were in there some guy (that doesn't even work there but was trying to help the busy cook) dumped her food in the trash-he figured she was done. So when we got back her food was gone. So he had to cook her another round. There were so many funny things that happened-can't remember them all but it was very entertaining. I told Grandpa and Grandma that I wasn't sure if I should say "I'm sorry" or "You're welcome" for inviting them! I thought it was so cute that Grandpa tipped the guy $10 for having such a good attitude and for not getting stressed out and making it fun for us. We didn't even get to meet Mona's grandson so I guess we will have to try again!
