On New Year's Eve, Madisen had her tonsils out and she did SO GREAT! I am so proud of her. I cannot believe how well she has handled it. Brett and I watched 4 kids go out of the surgery center screaming and coughing and we thought, "this is going to be a very long day". We were only there for about 2 hours and when she came out of anesthesia she was moaning and said, "am I done? can I go home now?" When we came home she slept for 2 hours. After that, she acted pretty normal. She hasn't needed much Tylenol, she was singing (loudly) the next day and playing like normal. The nurse told us that it is completely normal for them to throw up after surgery. When we got home she started complaining that her stomach hurt. I told her to go a head and throw up and that the doctor said that she would feel better if she did. She said, "I don't want to throw up-my tummy hurts because I am so hungry!"
She is already breathing SO much better and sleeping so much better. She hardly snores now. We are wishing she would have had it done a year ago. I really think she is going to start sleeping better now-thank heavens!
The craziest part was getting her blood drawn the day before. I am so thankful Brett went with me because he had to completely restrain her. When she couldn't use her arms and legs as weapons anymore, she started spitting at the nurse who was trying to find her vein. When we got home, Madi went right to Saige and told her that she had to get her blood drawn. They had a little pow wow together away from everyone else and as Madi was telling her the story, Saige started scowling in our direction. When they were done talking, Saige wouldn't talk to Brett or I for about 2 hours. They are so protective of each other. I love it.
A special thanks goes out to the Remunds & Harrisons for being here to help with Saige while we were doing all of this. Thanks so much for driving all this way to see us. We sure love ya!

We were so happy that we could come and visit. I don't know how much helping we did, but we sure had fun watching everyone in action. Saige and Madi definitely defend one another. I think it is so cute. We sure enjoyed good food, good conversation, and good memories. Thanks for taking care of us too. We know it isn't easy to take care of grandmas and grandpas. Ha Ha At least we are not in the diaper stage.
I am still laughing about Saige glaring at you guys. That is so cute they are best friends and so protective of each other. I am glad everything went well with the surgery. She is a tough little girl.
Poor Madisen!!! Glad she is better! Let us know if you need anything.Olivia is the same way with her brother. We went to the Dr. and had to see a different Dr. than our reg. pediatrician. Jack got a flu shot and Olivia started crying "You hurt my brudder. I don't like the lady doctor. I like the man doctor better." It was sweet and Olivia was more upset than Jack.
That is such a cute story about the girls. It made me giggle - a lot!
hooray fo modern medicine. I am so glad it went well. We should get together more. What days are good, even to just let the kids hang out and us adults visit.By the way, Mike had a great time on Saturday with Brett.
Oh Nat, Spitting as a defense? That is priceless! Rand goes in on the 4th to get his out, I hope there is no spitting involved, and I'm so happy to hear the snoring/sleep issues are resolved! Glad you made it through one more adventure in parenting!
I love that she spit. Can you say Remund? JK! I love you Madi. We're glad your going to feel better now
ok first off that is hilarious that she tattled to her sister about you guys TORTURING her by getting her blood drawn. oh that is a riot... such a cute bond they seem to have!
Coen had his tonsils and adnoids removed and it's a BLESSING! He sleeps better, he's rarely sick, but he completely lost his baby voice :( he suddenly sounded so much older! but if that's all the negative things that i get verses all the positives!! i'll take it!
Oh, how traumatic! I'm glad that all is well, and it cracks me up that Saige ignored you.
OH Natalie - You've had quite a crazy December. I bet your ready for a new year! Was that really her tonsils in that jar???!!!???
