Quarter inch bangs-the new style! Saige had cut Madi's hair!
The story behind this...
When I was in Kindergarten my mom told me that she was going to trim my hair. When she was finished she had chopped it all off. It was a tramatic experience! My dad said that my hair looked like a calf had been sucking on it and they decided that cutting it all off was the answer.
Anyway, when we were home last, Madi saw a picture of me with it short and she said, "why do you look like a boy"?
So, I told her the story. Now she asks my mom, "Grandma, why did you make my mom look like a boy"?
Good thing her hair was ratty enough to keep it hanging on! There were only a few chunks missing. Her curly hair is pretty forgiving so she didn't need any repairs done!
She really likes her new hair cut. I only wish I could have talked her into doing it-instead of Saige talking her into it!
When Madi was done and we were leaving the salon, Saige said, "Hey-what about me?" I asked her if she wanted to have her hair cut like Madi's and she said yes. So, here is her new do. It was harder for me to cut off her curls than to see Madi's get cut. I hope they come back!
What are sisters for?
I yelled and yelled and yelled some more. After I was done yelling Madi calmly said, "I didn't want Saige to cut my hair"!
She didn't want to be in trouble but I am sure she was very cooperative when it was going on. I am sure she sat still while Saige did it. I can just see them cooking up this idea together. This was not an act of revenge against a sister for taking a toy. This was mutual plan.
I wasn't mad about the hair-I was just so frustrated because I KNOW that they know better than to do this. They were very aware of what they were doing and they knew it was wrong-and they did it anyway. I really am more in shock that they did it than mad that it happened. I sent Stef several pictures and asked her what I should do. She said, "there is nothing that anyone can do for her bangs but take her in and give her a bob haircut. I asked her to meet me in Barstow for an emergency hair cut. I can't believe that she didn't take me up on that!! On this day I really needed MY sister and I am so sad that we live so far apart.
I thought, "they knew better than to do something like this".
That's what I get for thinking!

This is Jessica....I'm at my mom's. I love their hair. I think it's cute shorter, of course Maddie's bangs will need to grow a little! They are such good girls. I don't think they really "understand" the ramifications of their choices. I guess that is why the age of accountability is 8. Tell them I love them and that they don't look like boys!
Tell the girls how much Grandma in Midway LOVES their new haircuts. It really is an amusing story for all of us but I know it is not for you. I think if you would asked around nearly everyone I know has a haircutting story. That is usually something kids will try once in their childhood. Think how boring your life would be if you didn't have free entertainment!!
Love it! I started laughing when I saw the picture. I am not excited for when my kids start doing that. I know it will happen. The girls are so grown up and they are so cute!!! Hope you guys are great!
Sorry not to be more sympathetic but that is so stinking hilarious! I am so glad she cut bangs instead of above her ears or something. They look really cute with their new haircuts. Paisley's curl hasn't come back so I hope that Saige's does. Brylin cut her hair ater Brant was born but it was just one strand above her nose. I didn't get upset but Bryce lost it. I was just glad it was so mild! Oh the joys of parenthood! Love ya!
I wish I could have been a fly on the wall watching them cut their hair. I wonder who came up with the idea.
Their hair is adorable. Tell them they are crazy girls and that I love them so much
By the way...what did Brett have to say about it?
Oh my goodness. What a story! Those two are so cute I don't know how you could be made at them. Both of their hair cuts are so cute. I love them!
That picture of madi crying made my heart drop. She is so sad in it. I love their new haircut. They really do crack me up. They are so funny together with their ideas. Madi's hair does not look bad at all now that it is fixed. The first pic you sent on the phone it looked really short but now it looks better. Tell them I love them!
Tyson did that to his own hair and we had to shave him bald! If it was my girl, I would cry a river!! They look darling though!
Savannah says, Maddie and Saige look so cute. They look like little dolls.
Hunter says, Grow it like me, I want a mohawk!
Well hopefully it was traumatic enought they won't ever do it again. But luckily the hair cuts turned out cute!
Oh Nat... what cute little girls they are. If I were you, I would blame it on Stefanie!! I'm sure they just want to be like Aunt Steffy...it's all her fault:) j/k They do look adorable, but man when my kids do stuff like this(stuff that they know is wrong and do it anyway) it makes me mad and sad at the same time. I probably would've beat my kids. I want to talk to you, but my phone broke and didn't get to recover your phone number before that happened, so call me:) Love ya
I am sorry that you had to go though the "hair cutting" but you are in good company. It seems everytime I turn around I hear another story of just such an event.
The girls are cute with their shorter hair and Madie's bangs will grow out sooner than you think.
I am glad that she didn't have to look like a boy though.
Have an excellent day!
So sad and funny at the same time. It seems to be an epidimic. Not my girls but I know of two others in the last month. Maybe something in the air. And, the trims did turn out really cute.
Lauren has cut her hair a few times with those same stinking scissors. She always seems to do it right after I get her hair professionally cut. I can feel your frustration. The girls look very cute.
Oh I'm so proud! Every little girl should cut hair! I didn't give it a try till high school, and boy did I screw up some peoples hair then! No training... why did people let me cut their hair? The girls are so darling! You look wonderful! Thank you for finally posting a picture of your whole family! I know what you mean about the girls finally getting easier. The boys aren't twins, but so stinking close in age. I thought I was going to hang my self till Dallin turned like 2.5. I was totally unwilling to even talk about another baby until he was almost 4. It's so nice having kids that have a playmate. You all look wonderful! I love reading your blog!
Oh that would be so frustrating, but they are so cute and the new haircuts look great.
ah busted!!! i must admit, i did this as a kid too... haha it was traumatic as well... but their hair looks adorable!!
Now I'm really glad I had boys first- they can't do too much to their hair with the scissors, although, I'm sure Cooper would try.
Oh Nat...Hannah did the same thing except she cut off her ponytails...AAAUUUGGHHH. Well actually to this day, Gus Gus(her imaginary friend) did it. Remember "the New Jan Brady afro?" That's what I had to deal with!
I feel your pain....their hair isn't as bad as it could have been! It will grow faster than you think!
That is my BIGGEST fear with Riley. I would be the one crying.
Atleast it turned out cute.
