Carson City, NV Train Museum

In Early August we drove to Lake Tahoe to meet the Phillips family for a little vacation. Before we got there we decided to stop in Carson City, NV to see the train museum.

This was the coolest thing I saw on our whole drive. Not much to see in NV. That is quite the billboard.

The train museum was pretty cool but some of the employees there were new and didn't know how to work some of the cool stuff so that was disappointing but overall we liked it.

I can't ever get them to look at the camera at the same time. Why is that so hard?!

July-Random

Syd got a cute dress from Grandma Dalton for her birthday 

 We said goodbye to our friends the Lichdi's. They moved to Missouri. We were friends with them in vet school and it was fun to reconnect with them in Idaho.

 We met Melissa and her kids in Boise to see Minions.

 We also made it to Menchies for some fro yo

 Brett sent me flowers when I found out my Mom had cancer (more on that later).

 Stef took this dress that used to be Grandma Darling's and turned it into...

 this! LaDon helped her alter it for their cruise to Alaska. Grandma would have been so proud! She loved fancy things.

 Dalton loves to hijack my phone and take pictures.

 Saw this football player made out of balloons at one of the sporting goods stores in Boise and thought it was so cool!

 The kids were playing in the boat and they put Dalton in the wetsuit. Funny!

 M&S are getting to be quite the babysitters. They helped the littles make these cute, creative hats one day while I was at Wal-mart.

We hate cancer and will fight it together. Bring it on!

Dalton's Surgery-July 2015

I'm a little unsure about the chronology of all of these post from last year but I'm trying the best I can to keep them in order. In the middle of July Dalton had to have a surgery. Due to the sensitive nature I will not tell you where but it was a pretty big deal. We were very nervous about it. He did so great and as far as we can tell it was a success. He recovered so much faster and better than Dr. Saperston anticipated. 

The nurses brought around this stuffed animal that someone lovingly made. He wasn't too excited about it tho and said, "let's give it to Sydney".

Brett was SO SO SO Excited when the Dr. let him scrub in. He only let him watch but he was excited non the less. I was excited that I didn't have to watch!

They put some smelly chapstick on his mask that they let him pick. He was excited about that.

There is something so terrifying about them putting your child to sleep and hauling them off in another room to operate on them. I don't like it one bit and hope we don't ever have to do it again!

He was very sweet coming out of the anesthesia. When we got home we got him a milkshake and watched movies the rest of the day. The dr. said that he would not walk normal for weeks and would be in pain for several months but the next day he was running around, wrestling with Syd, and jumping off things. It made me SO nervous!

I don't think I have any pictures of it but in July Brett also had surgery on his knee. The funny thing I remember about that was that on his chart it was supposed to say that he was a large animal vet but the nurse just wrote down, "large animal". So when the other nurse was talking to him she said "now it says here that you are a large animal." Then she realized what she had said and was SO embarrassed. We laughed and laughed about that!

Kelly's Whitewater Park-Cascade, ID

In July 2015, we went with our friends the Raymonds, the Merricks, and the Borons to Kelly's Whitewater Park to play around for the day. It was such a cool place in such a beautiful area. The kids had a ball. I am writing this almost a year later so I don't remember any great details but the kids' favorite thing was floating down the "big nasty". It is a big rapid that they have competitions at every year and all 4 of the kids went on it. Syd practically demanded that her dad take her and after he saw her do it Dalton did as well. Then we had trouble for a few weeks because they told everyone that they did "the big nasty". YIKES! Brett said it was like being under water in a washing machine. My favorite part was watching Bishop Merrick try to do it in a tube without flipping over. Hillarious!

The kids were wiped out on the drive home and so were we.
